    What is Ubuntu Labour Support?

Ubuntu Labour Support (ULS) is an independent labour support organization. We assist individual workers and groups of workers with workplace issues by providing support, intervention in disputes, and lawful representation.

Is Ubuntu Labour Support a trade union?

No. Ubuntu Labour Support is not a trade union. Workers choose to mandate us voluntarily to assist them. You are not required to join a union to receive support from ULS.

Any worker in South Africa can use our services, including:

    - Permanent employees
    - Contract workers

    - Workers who are not part of a union

What workplace issues do you assist with?

We assist with most labour-related matters, including:

    Unfair dismissals
    Disciplinary hearings
    Workplace bullying and harassment
    Unpaid wages or overtime
    UIF and COIDA issues

    Performance reviews and promotions
    CCMA referrals and preparation
Changes in ownership (section 197 matters)

Do I need to wait until I am dismissed to get help?

No. In fact, early support is strongly recommended.

We encourage workers to seek help before problems escalate, such as:

    - Before signing warnings - Before disciplinary hearings
    - When workplace treatment starts changing

Early advice often prevents bigger disputes later.

What does the R49 membership include?

    Membership includes:

    - Ongoing labour related support
    - Support and intervention with workplace disputes
    - Representation in hearings or meetings
    - Assistance with lawful engagement with employers

Yes. We regularly assist groups of workers who have similar concerns.

Workers sign a mandate and authorization form allowing us to engage on their behalf collectively and lawfully.

Will my employer know I contacted Ubuntu Labour Support?

No. Your initial consultation and advice are confidential.

We only engage an employer with your written permission or mandate.

Can my employer refuse to engage with Ubuntu Labour Support?

    Founder’s Message

Ubuntu Labour Support was founded from a simple but powerful belief: every worker deserves fairness, dignity, and a voice in the workplace.

Over time, I observed that many employees face disciplinary action, suspension, or dismissal without proper understanding of their rights or access to meaningful support. For non-unionised workers in particular, the lack of affordable and timely representation often results in unfair processes and outcomes. Ubuntu Labour Support was established to help close this gap.

At the heart of Ubuntu Labour Support is a commitment to integrity, professionalism, and respect. We take pride in standing alongside our clients during some of the most challenging moments in their working lives, ensuring that they are heard, informed, and treated fairly.

Thank you for trusting Ubuntu Labour Support.
